Amanda Vanhoozier, Flower Farmer and Workshop Lead
Amanda Vanhoozier is a strong presence in the local agriculture and food movement in North Texas. She serves on several college Sustainable Agriculture Advisory Committees, speaks at conferences and garden meetings and is a strong connection for a community of advocates that want to have a deeper, more authentic, connection to land and growing.
Amanda has founded farmers markets and gardens and held over 30 years of agricultural workshops with the belief that following nature’s systems that sustain life would also cultivate healthy communities and businesses. After retirement, Amanda started her specialty cut flower farm, Bishop Hill Farm Flowers, as a small-scale, high production flower farm model for mentoring others for a stronger presence of locally grown flowers in North Texas. This has given her a larger perspective and great joy in fulfilling a lifelong dream of being a business owner and growing a market for locally grown flowers.
